Joseph Goosey

When We Are Depleted

June,

being the driest of months

with no internet

swung a moldy axe.

I am glad, Ms.Gallimore,

you don't know

of my coffee flavored

downfalls.

We paint

because when we are depleted

we deplete uniquely

and it ain't

very flat.

What I need is a cinderblock room,

a fort with a rake and a bomb,

an alligator,

trapped on a diamond leash

and horny

for my bidding.

Practice

Five minutes ago I walked into the bathroom

and looked down

into the trash to discover

an uneaten chicken tender complete

with a side

of honey mustard.

I chewed it

while looking in the mirror

and was thankful that no Catholic guilt

or mismanaged pride

had set in.

I was born with at least one talent

featuring a practical

usage.
